THE ITALIAN STUDIES MAJOR
In an era in which every issue seems to have global repercussions (economic, political, environmental, social), it is vital to have professionals trained in foreign languages and familiar with foreign cultures. UCSB's Italian Studies major responds to these needs and, at the same time, offers students--many of whom are double majors--a highly personalized and flexible program of study. In addition to the interdisciplinary curriculum offered on campus, all Italian majors can apply to spend up to one year in Italy, either through the Education Abroad Program (EAP) or through other approved U.S. university programs. Majoring or double majoring in Italian Studies can lead to a career in international relations, the foreign service, international law or business, travel and tourism, communications, journalism, teaching, or many other fields.
