David Moak received his PhD from Princeton University in 2017.  After working as a Lecturer at the Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies, he made the switch to UCSB, where he has been teaching in Comparative Literature & French and Italian.  By training, he is a specialist in Revolutionary France (broadly defined), and his scholarly work deals with the birth of tourism in eighteenth-century Nice, and its economic, environmental, cultural, and social consequences. His scholarly work has appeared in the Journal of Urban History, French History, and an edited volume with Palgrave Macmillan.
