Lorenzo Giachetti is the Director of the French language program. He earned his Ph.D. in French from Stanford University in 2015, writing a dissertation on Albert Camus. He has published on Camus, the “adjunctification” of higher education, and more recently, his research and interests have focused on foreign language pedagogy and language program coordination. With Hedwige Meyer, he is main contributor of two French language textbooks, Défi francophone 1 (2021) and Défi francophone 2 (2022). Along with all levels of language, Lorenzo regularly teaches upper-division courses centered around media, politics, advertising and current events in the French-speaking world. Lorenzo previously taught French and Italian at the University of Washington, where he served as Director for both language programs.
