Ester Suassuna Simoes is a Lecturer of French Studies who teaches lower-division language classes at UCSB. She completed a B.A. in French and Portuguese at the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) in 2012, followed by an M.A. in Literary Theory in 2016 at the same institution. Her M.A. research focused on intersemiotic studies, particularly the correlation of poetic and iconographic images on illustrated poems. In 2021, she completed her Ph.D. in Literature at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), specializing in Comparative Literature with a focus on performative and autobiographic literature and the works of Brazilian author Ariano Suassuna.
