Maria Elena Crickette joined UCSB’s Italian Program in 2006 and has since been teaching both traditional and hybrid lower division language courses at all levels. Prior to becoming a UCSB faculty member, she taught both Italian and ESL at the Italian Institute IFOA. She earned her B.A. in Foreign Languages and Literature from the University of Bologna and holds a TESOL certificate from UCSB.

She is passionate about traveling, languages and culture, as well as enriching her skills and modalities as an educator. She relishes the opportunity to share her own language and culture with her students to help develop more culturally competent and confident language learners. Within the Santa Barbara community, she currently donates her time by serving on the Board of Directors of the Italian Cultural Heritage Foundation of Santa Barbara.
